Stephen Ferguson MRICS
Stephen has over 20 years’ experience in both Quantity Surveying and Project Management and has recently joined Hood McGowan Kirk LLP as an associate to further strengthen its combined project management and quantity surveying offering. Stephen excels at first defining the client’s value requirements then steering multi-disciplinary teams toward efficiently achieving them.
Stephen’s experience spans both the public and private sector, with a focus on commercial office, education and residential. His uniquely balanced and considered approach is borne out of experience operating at a senior level in both Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor capacities, and a range of repeat clients with challenging demands can attest to the efficacy of his approach to cost control and project management.

Key Project - Queen’s University Belfast Integrated Student Centre, £30m

Stephen is Project QS on this ambitious and exciting project that involves the redevelopment of the well-known existing facilities in South Belfast to build a new student centre, which will provide a gateway for student-facing, non-academic services on campus.

James Gordon MRICS, NECReg
James has over 25 years’ experience in both Project Management and Quantity Surveying and has recently joined Hood McGowan Kirk LLP as an associate to manage the rapidly growing project management division. James’ approach to project management is underpinned by a profound understanding of commercials. Clients benefit from an informed, technically adept approach that bridges strategy, delivery and technical requirements. James’ experience spans both the public and private sector with a focus on commercial office, education, retail, residential, industrial and mixed use. James specialises in delivery of agile, flexible workspace and move management for clients with complex and evolving operational and phasing requirements. James is also a NEC Accredited Project Management Professional.

Key Project - Abbey Community College, £25m

James’ appointment coincided with the new £25m state of the art Abbey Community College development.  Acting as the NEC PM lead, James has managed the full ICT through both the feasibility and concept design stages and is currently assisting in the business case approval process. As part of HMK’s ethos to provide continuity of service and high level of expertise to all clients, James will project manage this scheme to post completion. 

John-Paul Donnelly MRICS
John-Paul (JP) has 15 years’ experience spanning senior roles in Northern Ireland and London, operating for a range of demanding clients on technically complex, high value schemes. JP offers clear and consistent advice underpinned by sound technical knowledge and is adroit at delivering best outcomes for clients through a collaborative, engaged and proactive approach that recognises the key role played by the cost consultant in driving value.
JP’s sector experience is wide ranging but particularly focussed on commercial office, retail, and mixed use. JP is well versed in actively mitigating the potential cost impacts associated with scheme complexities arising from complex phasing requirements, constrained working, and technically innovative delivery solutions.
JP has a keen interest in construction law and dispute resolution and is an advocate of continuing professional development. JP plays a central role in managing HMK’s in-house APC candidate programme.

Joseph McConkey
Joe’s experience spans both Quantity Surveying and Project Management and he has recently joined Hood McGowan Kirk LLP to support both the project management and quantity surveying teams.
Through knowledge, professional training and a determined approach, clients enjoy a highly efficient service with accurate management, reporting, and project delivery. Joe is enrolled in HMK’s APC programme and is working towards chartership with RICS.

Key Project

In addition to supporting the senior project management team on projects ranging from £3m-£25m, Joe is responsible for the management of the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Framework. Joe has secured several commissions under this framework including a Gateway Project and a Water Recreation Improvement scheme.
