As part of NI Apprenticeship Week 2020, CITB NI were delighted to host 4 ‘Interactive Emerging Technologies’ workshops, in partnership with Digital Catapult NI, for 5 post-primary schools which offer a GCSE qualification in construction.

The newly revised subject encourages students to develop their knowledge of the construction industry and the built environment and then apply this knowledge in relevant and work-related contexts. The GCSE also covers key areas of emerging technology and exploring the adoption and impact these will have within the construction industry.

The students learned all about virtual reality and artificial intelligence and how these can be used to progress projects during the workshops, and CITB NI received excellent feedback on the informative sessions.

CITB NI were heavily involved with the first Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week, holding other events such as their Mobile Training Unit outside the front of Belfast City Hall and visiting North West Regional College at a partnership event with CIOB to promote careers in construction.
