The team behind NI Builder are delighted to announce that we have partnered with the Construction Employers Federation (CEF).

As official media partner to the Construction Employers Federation, NI Builder will be publishing a special commemorate issue of the magazine later this month which will tell the story of the federation as well as shining a spotlight on the CEF members and their achievements within the industry.

CEF are the certified representative body for the construction industry in Northern Ireland, representing the interests of over 800 member companies which range from small businesses employing a handful of people to some of the largest construction companies in Northern Ireland.

Although able to trace its roots back as early as the 1890’s, the Federation as we know it was officially formed in 1945 under the somewhat less catchy name of ‘The Federation of Building Trade Employers of Northern Ireland Ltd’ (FBTENI), at the behest of government who wanted to be able to speak with one unified organisation about the industry during the post-war reconstruction of Belfast and the main towns in Northern Ireland.

Since then the CEF has been responsible for establishing safeguards like holiday pay, benefits and pensions for those working in the industry that many of us now take for granted, as well as being instrumental in promoting the importance of better health and safety standards and ongoing training, with schemes like the Construction Skills Register and Safe-T-Cert accreditation.

Mark Spence, Managing Director (Designate) of the Construction Employers Federation said:

“This year, whilst we cannot gather to celebrate the success of our members at our Annual Awards, we did not want to let the 75-year anniversary of the Federation pass unmarked.

“In association with our media partner and official publication, NI Builder, we are delighted   to be part of a commemorative edition of the magazine which will comprise a review of the Federation’s history and characters and allow members to showcase their own history and achievements alongside those of the CEF.

“We look forward to a date, hopefully not too far distant, when we can gather in person and celebrate the success of our businesses and our people.  Until then we shall maintain the highest standards of health and safety, keep safe and deliver the best quality work for which NI construction is renowned.”

Karen McAvoy, Managing Director of NI Builder, added:

“In this momentous year, we are proud to announce our partnership with the CEF and look forward to commemorating the Federation with a very special edition of NI Builder.

“What better way to mark 75 years of the CEF than by highlighting the achievements of the Federation and members to what they are today!”

Established in 1988, NI Builder (formerly Northern Builder) has been committed to bringing readers the latest news on the companies, projects, products and services that matter within the construction industry in Northern Ireland for over 30 years.
